About Chef Francois Moyet

Francois Moyet was born with his twin brother Jean Luc May 1, 1966 in Bourges France . Francois was raised in Cognac County for 15 years. He then went to a culinary college in Royan City for 3 years and graduated with his culinary technical degree in 1983 with first rank.

Francois got his first job as a chef when he was only 17 years old.

December of 1984 Francois went into the army for a year where he was assigned as the personal chef for the colonel.

During this time he receives his masters degree in French culinary art.

In 1985 Francois moved to Paris and began a very fast career which brought him in 1986 to the kitchen of the very prestigious La tour d’argent restaurant, ***
stars Michelin. He was then chef de partie and pastry chef for almost 2 years. Francois had the opportunity to feed some of the most celebrated people on the planet at the time. From Queen Elizabeth II to Princess Diana to Ronald Regan and Francois Miterand.

Francois took immediate leadership of his school and was president of the student association for two years. This new opportunity allowed him to work as personal food consultant for major food industry organizations such as danone bsn, Nestle, Picard, alsace lait.

During this time he was selected for an international exchange program with Johnson & Wales University in Providence RI , where he met his wonderful wife Catherine Sue Holmes. Catherine was the director of the university.

In 1990 Francois graduated and immediately opened his first restaurant, Le Navarin in Paris . One of his first customers was a Japanese millionaire who hired his services to run the entire food operation of his sport racing car team at the very prestigious French race the 24 Hours of Le Mans . Starting the race as an outsider with only one car, a Porsche 911, the team finished on the podium in 3rd position.

Le Navarin became an immediate huge success and was continuously under media press.

Francois has two wonderful daughters. Claire born in 1991 and Mathilde born in 1993.

Then in 1992 he opened his 2nd restaurant La Rotisserie du Navarin and his 3rd restaurant Le Grillon in Paris . Both were very successful as well.

Then in 1995 he moved to the United States with his family to relocate in his wife's family area, Kalamazoo Michigan . He then opened Francois’ Seafood & Steak house which became one of the hottest spots in Michigan . His new deli Bagels & Panninis opened this October and has been very successful as well.
